Hot Air Balloon Maternity Session | Maryland Wedding Photographer

Updated: Oct 11, 2020

I met Emily and Ryan last year when I was fortunate to document the celebration of their 1 year wedding anniversary! During that time together Emily shared how biological children probably weren't in the cards for them due to a PCOS diagnosis. Despite all the odds that were stacked against them, earlier this year they received the wonderful news that their dream of becoming parents was coming true! Their theme for the little one's journey so far has been hot air balloons due to the symbolism it's represented in their journey as a couple. Emily shared that when she took her first hot air balloon ride she felt a calmness as she floated high in the air in silence, despite not knowing where she was going to land. When she began her weight loss journey in hopes to increase her odds of carrying a healthy pregnancy, she didn't know if it would work or where her life would go, but she trusted the process, just like she trusted that balloon, and went along for the ride. To all the couples out there who may be struggling to conceive, I hope you find inspiration in Emily and Ryan's story and never give up hope. To Emily and Ryan, thank you for allowing me to capture this chapter in your story and I wish you all the best on your new ride. You are going to be wonderful parents and I can't wait to meet the little one!

I leave you with the words of the balloonist prayer that Emily shared with me in hopes it will inspire many of you as well: May the winds welcome you with softness. May the sun bless you with its warm hands. May you fly so high and so well that God joins you in laughter and sets you gently back again into the loving arms of Mother Earth.
